Family Values

Well, I saw the latest rendition of Batman at the theater on Thursday night, and I will say that it was a piece of work.  I liked it OK, but I am not yet willing to use the word “great” which seems to be casually flung around by most others as the movie’s predominate descriptor.  But it was very good albeit very disturbing. 

Between a Rock and a Hard Place

I am a light sleeper, probably from being on call at the hospital for 27 years.  As a result, I don’t remember my dreams very well, or perhaps I don’t have them at all.  I am amazed at the vivid detail that some people can recall when telling of their dreams. 

The Hour of Power

Since I have been on my diet I have learned to do without foods that I use to worship.  I was once a first-rate chocoholic, and now nothing.  I quit cold turkey.  I ate one last Almond Joy and never looked back. And do you know what?  I don’t really miss it anymore.  Sure I went through D.T.s for about a month.  I was so desperate for chocolate that a stale chewy butter finger or a rotten malt ball would have been nirvana. I needed chocolate like Matt Jones needs rehab.  I took coffee intravenously because I needed C.R.T. (caffeine replacement therapy).

Well, I still get asked the question if we have recovered from the wedding.  And the answer is yes, I think we finally have.  We still have wedding stuff in piles in places, but hey, some of it came in handy this past week. We had a four or five hour power failure in Maumelle one evening, and man do we have the candles.  We lit enough in each room that our house looked liked a 17th century monastery.
